Spring Has Sprung!

by Colbi Swaim on April 3, 2013

in Decorating,Furniture,Interior Design

Spring is finally here and we at Patrick Van Nice Interiors couldn’t be happier!  This living room setting I have been working on really makes me think of nice, warm, Spring-like, weather and I thought I would share it with you all.  I really like the turquoise and gold color combination I used on the roman shades and upholstered furniture.   By incorporating a floral fabric into the design, it adds detail to the room.  The dark wood flooring, crown molding, window casings, and base board contrasts with the turquoise and gold colors and really sets this room off!  I hope you enjoy this Spring-like design idea!

Rugs are beautiful and we like to place them in rooms of all our interior design projects. But did you ever know how they are created by hand? One of our sources, Surya Rugs explains in this video showing their workers in India. The colors and craftsmanship are amazing.

Valances 101

by Colbi Swaim on March 20, 2013

in Decorating,Interior Design

Do you have any valances in your home?  Valances can add a decorative edge to your home.  They can be paired with shades or blinds for a more causal look or paired with  movable or fixed draperies for a more formal look.
The fabric used for a valance determines how formal or casual it is.  Lighter weight fabrics tend to be more causal and heavier weight fabrics tend to be more formal.     The style of the valance also plays an important role in how formal or casual  a valance is.  Gathered looks have  more of a causal appearance   Flat styles are very clean and neat.  Draped and swagged styles are more formal and would look great in a formal style room.  The valance in this picture is very tailored and clean looking.
Valances can also be short or long in length.  When using a short valance, it is important to choose a printed fabric that is small in scale.  Longer valances look great in rooms with high ceilings or large windows.  In this photo, the valances are shorter with a printed fabric that has a good scale for the size of the valance.

Bedroom Inspiration

by Colbi Swaim on March 13, 2013

in Decorating,Interior Design

Are you in need of some inspiration for your bedroom?  I have put together an inspiration board of a chic look for a bedroom.  This overall look displays style and sophistication.  I just love the purple, gray, and cream fabric tones.  They complement one another so well.  And, of course I had to throw in those animal print fabrics to give the chic to the look.  Using satin nickel accessories adds a feel of elegance to the look.  I am in love with crystal beaded chandeliers and knew it would be the finishing touch for this chic bedroom. Hopefully, this inspiration board will inspire your imagination!
